Morph
Morph converts images and PDFs into a print-ready file. Add one file or several — every PDF page and every image becomes its own page — pick a page size and unit, choose whether each page fits within the page or fills it, set independent padding, dial in DPI (300 by default, the standard for press-quality output), and choose a color mode. Multiple sources compile into a single output file, one page per source.
PDF input
Uploaded PDFs are rasterized page-by-page in your browser (via pdf.js) at a print-appropriate resolution, then treated exactly like an image for layout and export. Vector content, live text, and layers are flattened in the process — this matches how the final press-ready output works either way.
Color modes
Match Source (default) makes no color conversion at all: if the uploaded PNG or JPEG has an embedded ICC profile, that exact profile is carried through and embedded directly in the exported file's image data; if none is found, the export is tagged sRGB, which is what your browser used to decode the pixels. This is the mode to use if you don't want Morph to touch your color in any way.
RGB exports DeviceRGB pixel data with your chosen output profile (sRGB, Adobe RGB, or your own uploaded ICC file) embedded directly on the image, so Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Acrobat, and other ICC-aware apps display it exactly as tagged instead of reinterpreting it through their own default working space — which is what caused unexpected color shifts before.
CMYK converts for press output. Browsers have no built-in color-management engine, so this conversion is a documented device approximation (proper black generation, not a naive channel inversion) — not a true ICC-managed transform. Named output profiles (SWOP v2, FOGRA39) tag the export with the correct industry-standard identifier but are only embedded as real ICC binaries if you upload your own ICC file — in which case it's embedded verbatim on the image, not just referenced.
Quality & compression
Pixel data in PDF and TIFF exports is always stored with lossless Flate (zip) compression — never JPEG — so there is no generational quality loss from compression at any DPI or color mode. The only unavoidable resampling happens when a source image must be scaled to fit your chosen page size and DPI.
PDF/X-1a
When CMYK is selected, PDF exports are hand-written to be structurally compliant with PDF/X-1a — CMYK-only color, embedded OutputIntent, no transparency. This is best-effort compliance; it is not run through a certified preflight validator. RGB and Match Source exports are standard, widely compatible PDFs (not PDF/X, since PDF/X-1a requires CMYK) built with the same plain cross-reference table structure for maximum compatibility with Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and other PDF readers.
Privacy
Every conversion happens in your browser. Nothing you upload is sent anywhere.
